UT Research Group Opens Office in Memphis

March 1, 2007

The Memphis Bioworks® Foundation today announced that the LifeCyte, Inc., a contract biopharmaceutical services company, leased 500 square feet to open an office in the 9-story Dudley Building at the UT-Baptist Research Park at Dudley and Union in Memphis, just below the Foundation’s offices.

LifeCyte, Inc. is a high-value contract biopharmaceutical services company providing laboratory, analytical, and cellular therapy development services. The firm provides custom-tailored solutions that accelerate time to commercialization and decrease production costs. LifeCyte operates under GLP and GTP standards and provides quality systems and advanced translational development services for cell-based and regenerative medicine products.

The Memphis Bioworks Foundation is working to incubate new companies and attract other tenants that can grow and move to new buildings planned on the Research Park campus.

The Foundation leases other space in the building to the Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering (MASE) for classrooms for the school’s 7th and 8th grade. The Memphis Bioworks Foundation started MASE in 2003 to train inner city students for future math, science and engineering jobs planned in the Research Park. MASE is the first charter school approved to operate in the State of Tennessee.
